Back in the days when cigarette commercials were still produced and aired, Winston made quite "original" and funny ads and TV commercials. In the 1950s and 1960s the Winston brand sponsored two hugely popular TV shows - The Flintstones and The Beverly Hillbillies, so the characters of these shows were endorsing the brand. Check it out:

In the year 2010 making this kind of commercial, where the main characters are cartoon ones, would be inconceivable. But for the first two seasons, the Flintstones aimed at adult audience, and in adult shows this was quite a common practice. As in case with another popular sitcom The Beverly Hillbillies where characters would advertise Winstons in the end of each episode.

Besides these two shows Winston also shot regular TV commercials in those decades. Some of them are quite funny and indeering. The link below allows you to witness quite a long animated clip from the 1950s, actually in the best tradition of that decade. It features animation, jingle and, of course a smoking couple that admires the Winston brand.

This next video is a decade older than the previous one but it stays in the same lines: you see a husband and a wife who enjoy doing something together, smoking and fishing among others. Or rather fishing and then smoking... Good old days when women liked fishing...
