Lucky Strike is one of the oldest cigarette brands on the market. In North America a limited amount of unfiltered Luckies are still produced by R.J. Reynolds and distributed to a small but loyal customer base.
Outside the US the Lucky Strike brand is manufactured and distributed by the British American Tobacco Company (BAT). The company was established in 1902 by two tobacco manufacturers: Imperial Tobacco Company (UK) and American Tobacco Company (US). The success of the joint venture must be attributed to BAT's first chairman James "Buck" Duke whose efforts to modernize factory equipment, hire skilled people, wisely organize product distribution and manufacture high quality cigarettes for low prices helped the company to survive the 1929 Wall Street Crash and the Great Depression.
With this tradition of innovation, BAT expended and re-invented itself over the years becoming the second largest cigarette manufacturer in the world.
