American Heart Association Report Contradicted
Smokeless tobacco products are much on the high these days, there is debate all around if smokeless tobacco is less dangerous than cigarettes or not. Everybody is passing statements. Recently The American Heart Association has given a very strong warning about the use of smokeless tobacco.
In a 26-page paper, the American Heart Association has said that smokeless tobacco mat increase the risk of heart attack. They further said that smokeless tobacco has not helped any of the smokers in US to quit smoking.
Dr. Ross claims that the findings of AHA are highly flawed. He says that many of the cases they have quoted did not have an increased risk heart disease from the use of smokeless tobacco. He says that they have analyzed mélange, which is just a type of tobacco and there are many types of tobacco, each with different characteristics. He said that most of the tobacco is unpurified, which is nothing like the newly made snus or other smokeless tobacco products.
He says that he agrees with the fact that snus has not helped the people of Sweden in quitting and neither has it helped Americans in doing so, but he says that the headline that says, “smokeless tobacco won’t help smokers to quit.” is totally unjustified.
Jeff Stier who is a member of ACSH, the goal of AHA is to fight heart disease, so they should do their work by reducing harm and their mission should not be opposing products or companies.
Many of the accredited doctors of the US are in favor of the smokeless tobacco. They say that nicotine taken without combustion will be less dangerous. They say that they are still skeptical if smokeless tobacco can or cannot help people to quit smoking.
On the other hand, smokers are showing an increase in the use of Snus, the sales of cigarettes is decreasing while snus is on the up.
