However, according to the legislation, small places and establishments that are less than 70 sq. meter will decide for themselves if they want smoking allowed or not, but the government says if a business makes itself smoking friendly then it will have to only allow smokers in their place. They will have to use a special sign that say “SMOKING FRIENDLY”
About the offices, those centers with less than 50 employees will have to ban smoking completely in their premises. The centers with more than 50 employees will have to make special smoking rooms.
Since the middle of the 19th century, Greece has been trying to implement a smoking ban but has not been successful. People always ignore the law.
To enforce this legislation many people were charged. If someone violates the legislation he will have to pay a fine of 500 euro, for the business or café owners, the fine is 2000 euro.
